We all fear and hate being lonely and isolated at any point in our lives.
We are always desperately seeking to be with our friends and social circle and to be in touch with the society around us.
Even at the work front and in our professional lives we want to be with our colleagues for most of our time and be a part of a team or work in a team.
There is a feeling of negativity and insecurity within us when we are not doing this and we feel that we will be branded as a misfit and an abnormal people if we are left lonely and isolated.
We feel as if we will be missing something very important in our lives if we are not a part of a group or in a team.
At home when we are left alone we easily get bored and we feel the need to talk to somebody or just take refuge in watching television or playing the music system or surfing the internet to chat, shop, and watch movies.
We are more interested to know what others are doing and so we like gossiping and feeling jealous and hurt when somebody else is happy and doing well in life while feeling inner satisfaction and happiness when somebody else is in trouble. This is a basic fact of human nature.
But do you know and realize that if you are left lonely and isolated in life, it is actually a blessing in disguise. When I say self-business it does mean that the business that you are going to create is related to “You”. Your personality, your strengths, your expression, your talents, your skills, your knowledge, your expertise, your experience, etc.
So it is also known as a solo business and a solo career.
What you are actually doing during this time of your loneliness and isolation is going to decide whether any form of business is going to emerge out of your efforts or not.
This is the time when you are true to your own, real, and natural self with your own original thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
If you just spend that time reading a book or listening to music or listening to somebody else teaching or watching movies and television or surfing the internet is not really going to help.
These are just passive activities but what is required during this time is some form of doing or action on your part.
You have got to express your original and natural thoughts, feelings, and emotions during this time which should manifest into anything related to the list mentioned below which is not exhaustive.
Since you are lonely and isolated and you are real, natural, and original, therefore, any such activity is going to bring out something which is unique and genius in you and not found anywhere else in any other radio, television, print, internet, or face to face people media. This is how new knowledge can be created.
Do some introspection and analysis of your own personal inventory as to what is that activity or form of expression out of this list that you are naturally good at doing and that you do better than others, find it easy and enjoyable to do, can do it with complete concentration and focus for hours together without bothering to look at your clock and that you can continue to do this happily even if you are not paid or compensated for it in the short term.
When all the above conditions are met, then and only then, a self-business can emerge or can become possible and successful in your desired and chosen activity or form of expression.

In this simple structure of a self-business, you are responsible for giving birth to an organism that will involve product creation and sales and marketing on your part for your targeted customers, niche, market need, and demand.

The very first thing that you should do is to find your niche or customer avatar.

And if you think you are good at speaking then you can create products like audiobooks, video books, podcasts, etc.
These all are known as digital information products or simply knowledge products in today’s knowledge economy where there is a participation in some form of teaching on your part and participation of learning on the part of your customers.
The topics can be related to anything for which there is a market need on the part of your customers and a passion and knowledge on your part on a subject and topic to create a profitable and financially stable knowledge business.

There is confusion among many about self-employment and self-business as they are mixed together and are considered to be the same.
But they are different and so let me explain this with the writing activity as an example.
Suppose you have written an article about a product which you want to sell. Now there are two different models for doing so.
One is self-employment where you write an article as a ghostwriter and give it to your client.
The client pays you the agreed amount for that article and that’s it. You lose all the rights and credit for that article as it now becomes the property of the client and you only receive the money.
You have to write another article for the client to receive your next payment.
Fiverr is one such website where you can open your own shop and display your talents like writing. Whenever a client contacts you there, you write an article as per the requirements of that client and receive your payment.
You can also keep your own employees and freelance assistants to help you write more articles for you to give to the client. But you have to pay your employees or assistants every time for doing so.
